SUT Unveils SUTx 'Holding Company' to Drive Innovation and Propel Thai Startups to the Global Stage.

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has announced the launch of "SUTx", a 40 million THB holding company, comprising four specialized subsidiaries: SUTIP, SUTVB, SUTxPonix, and SUTVCC. The initiative aims to drive innovation and help Thai startups reach the global stage.

SUTx aims to support innovators, researchers, and young entrepreneurs from idea development to business expansion, with the vision of creating the "Korat Model" as Thailand’s new Silicon Valley. The leadership team firmly believes that this collaboration will enhance the country's innovation capabilities, bridge research with industry, and cultivate future technology leaders in ASEAN.

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) is stepping into a new role as a leader in driving Thailand’s innovation ecosystem with the launch of SUTx, a 40-million-baht holding company dedicated to propelling Thai startups onto the global stage.

SUTx is not just an investment company; it is a comprehensive innovation ecosystem designed to support innovators, researchers, and young entrepreneurs. From idea development and intellectual property management to fundraising and business expansion, SUTx provides end-to-end support to foster the next generation of industry leaders.

Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongra-ar, President of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), stated that SUTx is the key to unlocking Thailand’s innovation potential.

"We are not just building startups; we are shaping ASEAN’s future technology leaders. This collaboration is not only about creating business opportunities but also about bridging academic knowledge with real-world industrial applications. This will significantly contribute to the economic and social development of Nakhon Ratchasima and Thailand as a whole."

Under the umbrella of SUTx, there are four specialized subsidiaries:

🔹 SUTIP – An expert in intellectual property (IP) management, assisting researchers and startups in handling high-value intellectual assets. SUTIP focuses on developing strategies for commercializing research and leveraging IP to create competitive advantages.

🔹 SUTVB – A venture capital fund that understands the unique needs of startups, providing support from Pre-Seed to Series B investments. It also offers soft loans to enhance liquidity and runs comprehensive business incubation programs. Additionally, SUTVB serves as a bridge connecting startups with investor networks both domestically and internationally.

🔹 SUTxPonix is a collaboration between Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and Ponix, a company founded by SUT alumni. It focuses on investments in AI, Smart Cities, and Climate Tech.

According to Pongsakorn Nakwichian, Co-Founder of SUTxPonix: "We are building the ‘Korat Model’ to become Thailand’s new Silicon Valley by empowering young innovators with passion and groundbreaking ideas."

Currently, SUTxPonix is driving two promising pilot projects:

1. Devonix – A company developing Digital Twin technology to create virtual cities, which has the potential to revolutionize urban planning and city management in the future.

2. Hydrogen Research Initiative – A project focused on clean energy solutions, aiming to establish hydrogen as a sustainable alternative for the modern world.

🔹 SUTVCC is a collaboration between SUT and Origgin, a Singapore-based company that serves as a gateway to the global Deep Tech market.

🔹 SUTVCC focuses on investing in cutting-edge technologies with global potential, building strong networks with top universities and research institutions worldwide. It leverages the Venture Co-Creation (VCC®) framework to accelerate the commercialization of innovations.

SUTx is now open to project proposals from startups with innovative and cutting-edge ideas. Details regarding investment opportunities will be announced at a later date.
